Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Safe Harbor is our mission to Make Christ Known and to Equip His Followers. It begins in our own fellowship of Faith, and spreads to our town and then on from there touching a world. Safe Harbor members are involved in a variety of ministries. Things as simple as greeting people at the door for our worship services to giving food to people in need.

Missions and Outreach

Safe Harbor is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in Feeding ministries like our monthly brown bag lunch program called Isaiah 58 and the God’s table of Grace food pantry that is open on the third Tuesday of each month.  Our Women’s Ministry has a meeting on the second Monday night of each month to plan an implement strategies for missions involvement.  We support the Cooperative program of the Southern Baptist Convention by helping with at least four special offerings each year.

Music & Drama

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir or a praise team. Still others get involved in drama. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Safe Harbor, using their talents and gifts to glorify God. At Safe Harbor you will find a blended approach to worship making use of Hymns and modern praise and worship songs.

Greeters and Ushers

The Greeter and Usher teams at Safe Harbor fill an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Safe Harbor. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video format. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication. DVD copies of weekly sermons are available through request on this site or by the form located in the front lobby.

Family Ministry & Small Groups

We offer Small group studies on Sunday mornings for all ages. These classes are meet at 10:am every Sunday.  We also have special Bible study groups that meet periodically throughout the year.  These study groups will usually have a sign up and offer a participation guide with details of subject being studied.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Safe Harbor is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Warriors team, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study.

Children’s Church

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Safe Harbor holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.

AWANA Ministry

The AWANA program is offered to children from pre-school age through the 6th grade.  The children earn badges and awards for memorizing scriptures, playing games and participating in bible story time.  This program runs on Wednesday nights 6:30m-8:00pm during the school year.  (August-May) NOTE: On days there is no school there will not be AWANA that evening.

Youth Ministry

Our church youth group meets every Wednesday night from 7:00-8:00pm.  We offer this program to all students in the 7th grade through high school.  Relevant Bible study, outings and special events make this a fun place to be for our students.
